1887 N28 Allen & Ginter
Adrian C. Anson

The N28 Allen & Ginter set was issued in 1887, and included 50 different cards featuring a variety of sports figures. Out of the 50 card total, ten cards pictured famous baseball players of the day. N28's are extremely attractive, with beautiful color lithograph drawings set against chalk-white backgrounds. They are truly works of art.

This issue pictures Chicago's Cap Anson, one of baseball's first "superstars". Elected to the Hall-of-Fame in 1939, Anson played in 27 consecutive seasons, was the first major leaguer to record 3,000 hits, and finished his career with a .334 lifetime batting average. Anson is one of the most important and valuable cards within the N28 Allen & Ginter set.

The offered example is of the highest quality, and has been graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. It has a near perfectly centered image and text, an unblemished satiny surface, bold crisp multi-colored artwork, and an incredibly well-focused and intricately detailed illustration of Anson.
