1933 Goudey
#181 Babe Ruth

This is one of four cards within the landmark 1933 Goudey set to picture immortal Yankees slugger Babe Ruth. All four of the Ruth cards from this set are among the most popular, important, and highly sought after pre-war issues.

Perhaps the greatest player in the history of baseball, Ruth was truly an American icon. During his legendary 22-year career, he was a 12-time American League home run champion, he won seven World Series championships, and he was the first player to hit 60 home runs in a season. When he retired, he held career records for most home runs, most RBI's, and highest slugging percentage. In 1936, he was one of the initial five players inducted into the Hall-of-Fame. With his larger than life personality, and extraordinary charisma, Ruth was the embodiment of the great "Roaring Twenties" culture.

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, the offered example is highlighted by superb centering, attractive ivory-white borders, an immaculately preserved surface, ultra-clean printing quality, and a richly colored crystal-clear image of Ruth. The background is a beautiful vibrant light-green color, all the text and lettering is clear and bold, and the card has a wonderful satiny patina to it.
