1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel
Ty Cobb

This is the most valuable issue within the classic 25-card 1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel set. One of several E-card issues from 1909 to feature Tigers Hall-of-Fame great Ty Cobb, this card is especially desirable and sought-after because of its fierce, haunting image of Cobb.

1909 was an extraordinary year for Cobb, as he became just the fifth hitter up to that point to win the Triple Crown Award. His season totals included a .377 batting average, 107 RBI's, and just nine home runs. Interestingly, all nine of his home runs were inside-the-park. This was the only year in the modern era in which a player led the league in round trippers without ever hitting the ball "over the fence."

The offered example is simply stunning! It is exceptionally well-centered, with gorgeous cream-white borders, superb corners, outstanding surface quality, a crystal-clear image of Cobb, and absolutely brilliant red and violet background coloration. The reverse is extraordinarily clean with jet-black boldly printed text. Along with three other copies, this is the highest graded PSA example.
