1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folder

One of the most beautiful baseball card sets ever produced, the 1912 T202 Hassan Cigarettes issue featured a total of 132 different tri-fold cards. There were many different combinations of individual player portrait end panels, and multi-player action middle panels. The stunning fusion of beautifully colored artwork on the end panels, and black and white images of game action on the middle panels, give these cards a unique, striking appearance.

Within this legendary set, there are five different cards which picture Tigers Hall-of-Fame great Ty Cobb on one of the end panels. The offered example features end panels picturing Cobb along with his Tigers teammate George Moriarity, and a middle panel depicting Moriarity tagging a runner out at third base.

Without question, Ty Cobb was one of the greatest players in the history of baseball. Over a 24-year career (1905-28), Cobb established a slew of offensive records, many of which still stand today. His lifetime batting average of .367 has yet to be challenged. He amassed a total of 12 batting titles, and hit over .300 in 23 consecutive seasons (all but the first year of his career). He was one of only two players to accumulate more than 4,000 hits. When the balloting was conducted for the inaugural Hall-of-Fame elections in 1936, Cobb was one of five players chosen for induction - finishing number one in votes received!

The offered card is a very high-end premium quality example. It is exceptionally well-centered and has sharp corners that evidence only a touch of friction, brilliantly colored artwork on the side panels, bright creamy-white borders, and an absolutely stunning illustration of Cobb. A scarcity in high-grade, this is one of just three copies graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, with none higher!
