1910 Tip Top Bread
Honus Wagner
SGC EX+ 70

The classic 1910 Tip Top Bread issue featured 25 cards, all picturing members of the 1909 World Series Champions Pittsburgh Pirates team. In addition to coming in packages of Tip Top Bread, one could obtain a complete set of these cards by mailing in 50 bread labels to the Ward-Mackey Company (a Pittsburgh area bakery). This set is extremely popular with collectors, both because of the beauty of the cards, and the challenge in locating them.

The offered example features legendary Hall-of-Famer Honus Wagner. One of the greatest players in the history of baseball, Wagner amazingly hit over .300 in 16 of his first 17 major league seasons. He finished his career with eight batting titles and over 3400 hits. In 1936, he was one of the first five players elected into the Hall-of-Fame.

This card shares the title of "finest graded example" with only one other copy. It is very nicely centered with clean, cream-white borders. The corners have just a moderate amount of even wear. The surface of the card is absolutely spotless and the print and image quality are crystal-clear. The background color is exceptionally rich. And the reverse is free from any impairments. The image of Wagner is an expanded version of the one used on his legendary T206 card. This is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the hobby's most desirable cards.
