1953 Stahl-Meyer Franks
Roy Campanella

This rare, nine-card set was the first of three different issues distributed within packages of "Stahl-Meyer Frankfurts" in 1953-1955. The set includes three players from the Yankees, Dodgers, and Giants (Stahl-Meyer was located in New York City). Because of their distribution method, these cards are extremely difficult to find in high-grade. Most have product staining, marks, creases, etc.

Pictured on this card is legendary Dodgers Hall-of-Famer Roy Campanella. 1953 was a great year for Campy as he was voted the National League's MVP, made an appearance at the All Star game, and participated in his third World Series. This card features a stunning vintage image of Campanella catching a pop-up against the stadium/dugout backdrop.

The offered example is in phenomenal NM/MT+ condition. It is the only 1953 Stahl-Meyer - of any player - graded 92 by SGC, with none higher. A remarkably well-preserved regional issue featuring one of baseball's greatest catchers of all time.
