1909 E90-1 American Caramel
Joe Jackson

The landmark E90-1 set was issued between 1909 and 1911 by the American Caramel Co. There are a total of 120 different known cards, however several are spelling, team, pose and background variations, leaving a total of 108 different players pictured in the set. The vast majority of the set was issued in 1909, with a few additional issues in 1910 and 1911. Just like T206s, there are various levels of scarcity in the set. The card picturing Mike Mitchell of Cincinnati is a major rarity, the E-card equivalent to the T206 Honus Wagner. The set includes many Hall-of-Fame greats, such as: Home Run Baker, Chief Bender, Frank Chance, Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, Hughie Jennings, Willie Keeler, Nap Lajoie, Christy Mathewson, Eddie Plank, Tris Speaker, Honus Wagner, Cy Young, and several others. However, the most valuable and most sought after issue in the set is the first appearance on a baseball card of the legendary Joe Jackson

This rookie card of one of the greatest hitters in the history of baseball, Joe Jackson, is among the most important issues in the hobby. The offered specimen is one of the most attractive E90-1 Jackson's I've ever seen, regardless of the grade. It is virtually perfectly centered. The borders are bright and vibrant. The corners exhibit just minor, even wear. The background color is an attractive deep-lilac shade. The surfaces, both front and back, are remarkably clean and free from any product stains. The only impairment worth mentioning is the presence of a couple of small, light vertical creases at about 6 o'clock. Without these, the card would've most likely graded two or two and a half points higher. All in all, a beautiful example of this classic Joe Jackson rookie card
