1911 T3 Turkey Red Cabinets
#9 Ty Cobb (Checklist Back)

One of the most beautiful baseball cards ever produced! This majestic 5-3/4" x 8" cardboard "Cabinet" card, featuring the legendary Ty Cobb, is the most important and valuable issue within the landmark T3 Turkey Red set. Issued in 1910 and 1911, these cards were acquired by mailing in coupons found in various cigarette brands manufactured by the American Tobacco Company. A total of 126 cards were included in the set, 100 featuring baseball players and 26 featuring boxers. The quality of the artwork on these cards, and the beautiful array of colors used, is really without equal.

In the opinion of many, Ty Cobb was the greatest player in the history of baseball. Over a 24-year career, Cobb established a slew of offensive records, many of which still stand today. His lifetime batting average of .367 has yet to be challenged. He amassed a total of 12 batting titles, and hit over .300 in all but one season. He was one of only two players to accumulate more than 4,000 career hits. When the balloting was conducted for the inaugural Hall-of-Fame elections, Cobb was one of five players chosen for enshrinement in Cooperstown, finishing number one in votes received.

The offered card is an ultra premium-quality example! It is one of just four copies graded EX-MT 6 by PSA, with just two finer. This stunning work of art features near perfect centering, a pristine surface, an absolutely spectacular image of Cobb, breathtaking brilliantly colored artwork, and outstanding corner quality. As far as eye-appeal and overall visual appearance, this example presents as considerably better than its technical grade.
